What type of chopping board do you have? And what type should you have?
If pretty much comes down to personal preference. Personally I love my wooden cutting boards, I have had them for years. My husband made them and they wear so well. Other people prefer the plastic type. However, although the glass ones look great they will damage your knife and make it blunt quick. So it’s best to avoid a glass one.
