My daughter is just now 16 and learning how to drive. This is an extremely scary thing for a parent to go through. Especially having to endure being driven on the highway. The biggest thing was to get her to not stop so sharply, just to ease into the stop. She is a very good driver so far and has learned very well. However, this does not take away from my stress sitting in the passenger’s seat. I have lately taken my acoustic guitar with me on trips. She has to have sixty hours of driving on a learner’s permit before getting her regular license. I am so glad I know how to read guitar tabs and can sit and play. Playing the guitar is enough of a distraction for me not to panic while she drives. It also leaves me enough mobility to watch her closely to “help” her out.
